It’s been raining since morning, freezing as it lands and bending the branches of the trees. There’s wood in the stove and the animals are fed. It’s a good day to stay warm inside, and to finally put out another blog post.
Jim Wrenn is a hit. Locally, that is. Of course being a hit in our small community doesn’t make it a best-seller, by any stretch of the imagination. I’ll be lucky to recover my costs of publication. But it’s a story I wanted to tell and I’m glad I wrote it. The favorable reviews have encouraged me to write another one. I do have another story to tell, so I’ve been working on the sequel. I just wish I could type it out as fast as it comes to me.
We have seven new kids in the barn and, as always, they are a delight.
Yes, it’s a cold wet winter day. But in less than a week it will be time to start seeds. Spring is on the way.
Congrats, Bill, I’m pleased for you!

That’s a great image! I feel the same way. It’s over 70 here today, which is a tease. Tomorrow’s forecast is rain with a high of 35. BUT, the seedlings are up. π

Thanks. A more sensible response might be, “Why?” but being sensible has little to do with it. π

Thanks Laurie. I agree. If this book is going to resonate with anyone, it will most likely be people from this community. I would have been disappointed if it had bombed here.

I’ve just recently come in from the barn. The plan was to trim hooves, but mostly what I did was play with the kids. π

I have it on order through Wordery, but they seem to be having difficulty sourcing it. We’ll see. Anyway hope it does go wider and I look forward to reading it when it comes.

Sorry to hear that. I wonder why? It’s put out by Ingram so should be available everywhere. I saw your comment on Facebook and it made me smile. I hope you’ll manage without a translator, but I’ll help you out if anything stumps you. π

Glad to hear your book is doing well and your farm is filling out. Give yourself some space to rest before it all picks up again. Quiet, rainy days are good for that.

Bill, congrats on the local hit of your book. I already started some seeds but just to see if they are still viable from last year’s stash. I won’t seriously start until March and April.
We are in the beginning stages of another snow. The prediction is one to three inches and another inch tomorrow. It’s still cold in the single digits at night and some where in the teens during the day. Old Punxsutawney Phil says there will be six more weeks of Winter. However, there is hope in that statistics show that he’s only 39 percent right. So Winter could almost be over. It has been a long cold Winter in Nebraska.
So it’s time to saddle up and go out into the falling white stuff to get things done.
Be warm, well, and have a blessed day.

The first of our seedlings are up now, the chickens are laying more eggs, and the overwintered spinach is coming on strong. Spring is definitely coming. Be here before you know it!

Our weather sounds similar at this moment Bill, And wonderful about your book, and good luck with your second.. I can not wait for Spring to show herself.. She keeps trying and gets one step forward, then two steps back..
Though we have set our shallots in pots in the greenhouse.. and cabbage and broccoli in trays to start them off.
Glad I spotted your post in the reader as I am way behind in catching up. I have kind of hibernated and been doing some art projects instead of travelling WP as much…
And wonderful picture of one your new Kids.. You sound as if you have your hands full
Take care..

Dearest Bill,
Well, as I wrote you previously, my husband had stolen the signed book I received in the mail from you… But I’ll be reading it soon on my next flight, like I used to do during my consulting years; always reading something at airports and on the plane.
Those kids are so super cute and a joy to watch growing up.
Winter has been nagging here in Georgia and nature is so much later than usual… Looking forward to some warmth instead of the wet and cold days.
Glad to read that you will write a sequel to this book!
Hugs,
Mariette

Thanks Mariette. I hope you enjoy the book. Our daffodils are starting to emerge, so my guess is that spring is showing itself in Georgia too. π
