All That Is Gold

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

J.R.R. Tolkien

    What a lovely photo. It’s a perfect complement to some of my favorite words.

      Thanks Linda. I took that while we were hiking in the Blue Ridge a couple of weeks ago. I thought it went well with the poem too and it makes me smile to see that you agree.

  2. Beautiful photo. I would have been thinking I was walking into a new beginning with that fog, and the I love the verse especially ‘the old shall not wither.’ 🙂

  3. Dearest Bill,
    Love your mystic looking photo and the poem; great combination!

  4. Always a fan of woodland trails in the mist, Bill, and of that particular quote from Tolkien. –Curt
