Exactly so. October always has been my favorite month, despite my love of all the seasons. It’s the best kind of memento mori — beautiful, yet straightforward in its lessons.

Bill, yes, October. Trees turning golden color (no wait trees have barely turned); Leaves falling and giving the impression of the coming snow; cooler temperatures (no wait 83 predicted here today). This is the strangest October. It just goes to show that each year is unique in every way and no other October will be exactly like this one. That’s what I like about nature. It’s an daily adventure and in Forest Gump’s words, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get.” I believe that every day is supposed to be a blessing for all of creation to enjoy.

Have a great October day of enjoying nature.

How interesting, after your cool summer. It’s the opposite here. We were below freezing two nights ago and had frost the last 2 nights.

I marvel at the fact that no two Octobers are the same. We get a brand new painting every year.

  3. How timely this quote is for those of us who are Canadian :), given the election results last night. And the changing seasons are a reminder of the temporal quality of political governance. Thanks, Bill – thought provoking as you so often are.

With all our political wrangling and anxieties, October just goes on. It will bless us again next year, completely indifferent to our political season. 🙂

I envy you Canadians for having your election behind you now. For those who pay attention to politics (and who can escape it these days?) we have an ugly year ahead of us here in the States.

  4. My favorite time of the year! 🙂

  6. Dear Bill,
October is a lovely month for most every year with all its color and lots of sun rays as well.
Funny, my youngest sister and her son just went to a U-2 concert in The Netherlands. My sister-in-law just a couple of days ago in Antwerp/Belgium so they are still touring.
    Sending you hugs,

I’m envious of them. Then they got to see “October” performed live. 🙂 U2 played it at the show in NYC earlier this year, for the first time in 25 years. They’ve made it a regular part of their show since then.
