Returning to the Goose

We just learned that we’ll be presenters at the Wild Goose Festival again this year.  We haven’t figured out specifically what we’re going to be talking about, but it will be generally on the subject of food ethics.

This year the festival is returning to Hot Springs, NC and will be the weekend of June 26-29.

I highly recommend this event.  Here’s my reflection on last year’s gathering:  Post-Goose.  And here’s John Thompson’s take: My First Wild Goose Festival.

Wait – did you ask to be presenters, or does “we just learned…” mean they sent you a note saying “Oh, by the way, you guys are on Tuesday, 3 pm”?

  2. Bill, I read your summary from last year’s Wild Goose Festival. It is great to know that there are like minded people and you are not alone on in your food belief. The Mother Earth News Festival in October and Baker Creek festival in May allows me to mingle with other homestead food advocates. Festivals have a great atmosphere to bask in for reviving the soul, don’t you think?

Much needed rain storms today for most of the day are on the schedule. It should bring our rain for April up to the three inch average. I added three 55 gallon barrels on to the rain water collection system. Now the total storage is 550 gallons. Depending on how full these get with summer rain I still have room for a couple more if necessary. Some day another 1/4 of the house roof will be integrated into the system. My goal for this year is to catch fish from the local ponds and put them in the large tank to add some more use to the tank.

Have a great returning to goose day.

You’re doing great work Dave. I’ll be interested to find out how the fish experiment goes.

I’d love to go to the Mother Earth News and Baker Creek festivals someday. I’m sure you soaked in lots of goodness at those.
