I was admiring the beauty of the fall leaves and thinking about the word “leaves.” The leaves are here now, splashed with beautiful colors, but they will soon leave.
The particular colors and timing of the changing of the leaves changes each year. What we are exactly seeing this season we’ll never see again.
And isn’t Fall made more beautiful by the fact that it may be the last Fall we ever experience?
Of course it probably isn’t the last one, but how many more are left for us? Five? Ten? Twenty? Fifty? However many more there are, the number diminishes each year.
The leaves will leave. And so will we.
So this morning I remind myself: don’t take the beauty of Fall (or anything else for that matter) for granted. It is a gift.
