The gardens are planted. Time to bale hay now.
Layla is very sick. It’s touch and go.
Cherie and Will spotted a coyote in our front yard. It’s almost certainly what has been getting our chickens. Game on.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the yard sale we did to raise money for Haiti. It was a great success, but in more ways than I had anticipated. We had some desperately needy people show up to buy things like shoes, linens and baby clothes, because they couldn’t afford to buy them at Goodwill. One woman had bought some shoes and she spotted some pillows that she said she really needed. Our friend told her to just take the pillows, but he woman said she had “spent all her quarters.” So our friend insisted, telling her that what she had already paid (50 cents) was enough for the pillows too. Tearfully, the woman thanked her. She began to walk away, then turned back to our friend and said, “Can I have a hug?”
One woman who came had just escaped an abusive relationship with nothing but the clothes on her back. She bought some shoes for herself.
God used that event to bless more than just needy kids in Haiti. He blessed us all.
