Water

More than one billion people on our planet have no access to safe drinking water.  The World Health Organization estimates that over three and a half million people, 84% of whom are children under 14, die every year from infectious diarrhea caused by drinking unsafe water.  In fact, illnesses caused by unsafe water are the number one killer of children in the world.  For more info, visit http://water.org/facts

These deaths are all preventable, largely by simply drilling wells.

Meanwhile, Americans have the cleanest, safest drinking water in the world.   We are blessed with the ability to drink perfect water, right out of the tap.

So it is astonishing that while millions of our brothers and sisters around the world are dying from a lack of clean drinking water, we Americans consumed 8.7 billion gallons of bottled water last year–over 28 gallons for every man, woman and child in the country.  We spent over $11 Billion on bottled tap water last year–more than we spent on milk or beer.  $11 billion for something that comes free out of our taps, while millions of kids are dying of chronic diarrhea because they have no clean water to drink.

Wouldn’t it be great if we quit buying bottled water, and took our savings and gave it organizations like Blood Water Mission?   http://www.bloodwatermission.com/
