Waiting for the Sun

As I type this, it’s nearly 7 a.m. and it’s still dark outside.  This time of year the sun doesn’t rise until 7:30 and it’s dark by 5:30.

It should be a good time of year to catch up on rest.  In the summer, outside work starts early and ends late.  But this time of year the days are shortened and there’s less work to be done.

If only I could convince my body clock to get on the same schedule as our chickens.  I’d get plenty of rest.  Instead, I get up early, look out into the dark and wait for illumination.

I belonged to a congregation once where this was a favorite Eucharistic hymn. I see Theresa’s posted it too, but I love this video so much I’ll add this version, anyway.
